Sustainable Travel Plan
Our Whole Town Sustainable Travel Plan was formulated in conjunction with a wide range of local organisations, all with an interest in attracting people to Buxton – and making it easy for them to get around – while also minimising any negative impact on our environment.
Partners in the project include:
Derbyshire County Council (Councillors & Officers)
High Peak Borough Council (Councillors & Officers)
Derbyshire Police
University of Derby
Local businesses including Tarmac, Lomas Distribution, Nestle (Buxton Water), HSE Science & Research Centre
Local voluntary groups: Buxton Civic Association, Vision Buxton, Transition Buxton, Friends of Buxton Station
A data-gathering exercise of views on travel was undertaken including:
-
A large-scale survey of residents (almost 900 responses)
-
Visitor survey
-
Train passenger survey
-
Local business survey
-
Traffic data from DCC
