Buxton is now firmly on the high-tech map – thanks to IT wizard and Town Team member Doug Colton. He has come up with a whole series of phone apps aimed at helping people to find their way around the town and discover a wealth of fascinating facts into the bargain. The apps – all free of charge and without any adverts – cover walking, biking and exploring, as well as a special tree trail around the Pavilion Gardens. We also have a range of leaflets to guide you round the area whether you're on foot or on the bus – all downloadable from See below for more details...
Walks Around Buxton –
a fascinating cultural heritage
Our first walks leaflet – part of a series of 'Walks Around' the High Peak – is the latest step in our campaign to promote sustainable travel.
Featuring 7 walks around interesting and scenic parts of Buxton, it aims to encourage walkers to visit our town by bus and train. With a variety of routes to choose from, all starting from the railway station, cars are not needed!
Adventures on the 442
Our second leaflet (produced in partnership with High Peak Buses) opens up the surrounding countryside to anyone taking the 442 bus between Buxton and Ashbourne.
It offers ideas for different days out, with details of some of the interesting and picturesque villages you can stop off at en route. This can also be downloaded free of charge.
