Once again we are working with other organisations to decorate the town for Chrsistmas. This year we have been raising funds to provide more christmas lights. Thanks to a number of local businesses and the efforts of Buxton WI, we are putting lights up in lots of our trees – in Spring Gardens, up The Slopes avenue and on the Market Place.
Lights are only on during the hours of darkness though so as last year, we are co-ordinating the efforts of community organisations, businesses and individuals who want to put up daytime decorations – on trees, railings, bollards, bus shelters, lamp posts and of course the town’s christmas trees. If you want to join in, check our List of Spots and ‘Adopt a Spot’. Please also check out some ideas for cheap or no cost decorations that you can make. Lastly, please put up a laminated notice with your organisation’s name on so everyone knows it’s part of a town wide initiative, and who did what – here’s a template to use.
Last but not least, there will be a repeat of last year’s magical Buxton Sparkles Lantern Parade, on Saturday 2nd December. Meet at 4:15pm near Boots the Chemist. Bring a lantern to light your way, feel free to dress up, the theme is Seeking Sleeping Beauty. The parade will set off at 4:30pm, along Spring Gardens, up the Slopes, across the Market Place and down to the Pavilion Gardens, stopping at various places along the way to sing Christmas carols. You can download the song sheet here.
