Christmas Crawl 2012

2012 Christmas Crawl
2012 Christmas Crawl

Our very first Town team project, the Christmas Crawl aimed to support local independent businesses at this important time of year, by giving local people an incentive to discover the great variety of shops in Buxton.

We distributed a map of 30 participating businesses. Each shop stamped the map when you visited – there was no obligation to buy anything – and completed maps were entered in a prize draw for £1000, £200 and £100 in cash and vouchers supplied by the businesses.

The winners were announced at a special presentation evening in the Green Man Gallery on Thursday 24th January:
3rd Prize (£100 to Dome fine dining restaurant) – Pauline McGowan
2nd Prize (£200 in cash and vouchers) – Mrs Claire Stamp
1st Prize (£1000 in cash and vouchers) – Mrs Joanne Hibbert
Congratulations to them all and thanks to the Green Man for hosting the event and to the University of Derby for supplying the refreshments.

Approximately 120 people took part in the crawl, most went into businesses they had not previously visited and almost all the participating businesses said it was worthwhile and they’d take part again. As a result the Crawl was repeated very successfully in 2013.
